Whether you’re a Girlguiding Leader or a Guide yourself, this camp kit list is for you. When you’re heading off on an adventure at camp, it’s important that you’ve got everything you need to stay warm, dry, comfortable and prepared for all activities. If you’re getting ready for a Girlguiding residential trip at PGL, or any camp trip, then our guide camp kit list can come in handy!

Camp kit list for Guides

Get ready for an adventure! Here’s everything we think you need to include in your guide camp kit list.

Clothing

These are some of the most important items to remember. We’re talking waterproofs, shorts, trainers, nightwear, and more. At PGL, there’s no doubt you’ll be taking part in a range of adventurous activities, whether that’s playing sports, exploring the surroundings or water sports, so swimwear and clothes that can get dirty might be essential.

Here’s a list of clothing items that we recommend Guides should bring to camp:

  • T-shirts
  • Long-sleeved shirts
  • Waterproof jacket
  • Fleece/jumper
  • Trousers/leggings
  • Underwear & socks
  • Evening wear
  • Nightwear
  • Trainers (for activities and watersports)
  • Shoes/trainers (for the evening)
  • Hat/cap
  • Uniform

Bedding

Of course, this depends on the type of adventure you’re having but you might need them if you’re coming to our centre (unless advised otherwise). If you were heading off on a camping trip then a sleeping bag and pillow would be essential to make sure Guides have a comfortable night’s sleep.

There are only a couple of bedding items that we suggest you bring if you’re coming to PGL:

  • Sleeping bag/duvet
  • Pillow

Other items

These are the items that people tend to forget the most, usually because all the above are prioritised first. Well, that’s exactly why we’re here. Since you’re going on a residential trip, a washbag filled with soap, shampoo, a toothbrush and toothpaste is needed to keep those pearly whites clean and help you feel refreshed!

Something else we always encourage people to bring is a reusable drink bottle. On any adventure, water is super-important for keeping hydrated, helping fuel the body for some exciting activities.

Here are all the ‘other items’ we recommend be added to your guide camp kit list:

  • Reusable drinks bottle
  • Small rucksack/bag
  • Bin bag for dirty and wet clothing
  • Towel
  • Washbag (filled with shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush etc.)
  • Hair ties (for tying long hair up during activities)
  • Notebook (in case you’d like to document your adventure)
