EMATters Week gives every pupil the chance to try something new, discover their strengths and grow alongside others. Across a packed programme of adventures, creative experiences and practical learning, pupils will build confidence, resilience, relationships and skills they can carry into school, everyday life and their future.
EMATters Week is delivered in partnership with PGL Beyond and a network of specialist partners who share a passion for helping young people thrive. Together, we’re creating meaningful experiences that give pupils the opportunities, practical tools and essential skills for successful futures.
Help us show the impact of enrichment
Working alongside Sheffield Hallam University, PGL Beyond are conducting research to understand the difference enrichment makes to young people. Your child’s participation will help us build the evidence needed to demonstrate the value of these opportunities and support our ambition to make them available to more young people in the future.

A few words from our CEOs
At PGL Beyond are really excited to be working with EMAT. We just love building relationships, exploring how, working together, we can deliver greater impact at scale.
We are so passionate about breaking down the barriers that stand in the way of ALL young people benefiting from the life-changing experiences that we offer and cannot wait to see the transformative effect the week will have. These experiences should happen, regardless of background, ability, individual learning needs, or ANY other circumstance.
Anthony Jones,
Chief Executive Officer PGL Beyond
I’m humbled and proud to lead EMAT, an amazing organisation full of exceptional people doing exceptional things who I like to call #EMATters. I have a lifelong commitment to social justice and have worked across the education sector at senior levels for over 25 years, starting my career as a teacher in 1996.
I want to make a difference and improve children’s life chances. Poor mental health, poverty of opportunity, lack of equity, equality and division affect many in our society. We need strong role models, expert educators, and world class facilities to equip our children to navigate the world they will inherit. That is what inspires me and that is what #EMATters exists to do.
Joshua Coleman,
Chief Executive Officer at East Midlands Academy Trust

Bounce Forward resources for parents
As part of EMATters, all children and young people will be learning about psychological fitness — the capacity to regulate, recover and adapt when life feels difficult, uncertain or does not go to plan.
This is not about being calm all the time or always feeling positive. It is about helping children build practical skills to understand what is happening for them, manage difficult moments, recover from setbacks and respond flexibly to challenge and change.

Help make enrichment possible for more young people
We’re excited to be working with East Midlands Academy Trust (EMAT) to deliver EMAT Enrichment Week, giving thousands of young people opportunities to build confidence, resilience, communication and teamwork through enriching experiences.
Alongside Sheffield Hallam University, we’re researching the difference these experiences make. With your consent, your child will complete two short surveys during the school day, with minimal disruption to their learning. Their participation will help us demonstrate the value of enrichment and support our ambition to make these opportunities available to more young people.
Taking part is entirely voluntary. Whether or not you give consent, your child will still enjoy all the activities and opportunities offered during EMAT Enrichment Week.
With Enrichment Week starting on Monday, please complete the consent form as soon as possible. Every response will help us build stronger evidence of the difference enrichment can make.
