A flexible, inclusive and empowering adventure for SEND and ASN guests

Outdoor adventure is for everyone. Children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) or Additional Support Needs (ASN) deserve the same opportunities to explore, discover, and grow.

That’s why we’ve developed our brand-new SEND Inclusive Adventure programme for primary and secondary pupils. It’s been shaped by listening to the hundreds of SEND/ASN groups who visit PGL each year, and developed with trusted experts including Bendrigg, Aspris and Widgit Symbols. Their insight, training and ongoing guidance have helped us support our on‑centre teams and build a flexible, inclusive programme that is making a difference to the lives of children and young people with SEND/ASN.

The real test of success was trialling this new programme with real children and teachers – watch this video see what they really thought…

Adaptable activities

Our SEND Inclusive Adventures adopt a flexible approach at all times. Whether your group will benefit from more relaxed activity timings, more time for transitions, the same instructors for consistency, a slower pace, or being on the go all the time, we’ll make it work for you. Specialist equipment

A lot of our activities can be adapted without any specialist kit, but when it comes to the more technical bits we need some extra equipment. . We understand that seeing how specialist equipment is used can be reassuring and help guests feel more confident before travelling. Below are some examples of the equipment we provide.

Guests must be able to hold their head up without support and self-transfer into equipment.

SEND Inclusive Adventure FAQs

Can I arrange a preview visit?

We understand how important it is to be confident that a centre is the right fit for your group before you arrive – particularly when supporting learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)/ Additional Support Needs (ASN). That’s why we offer centre preview visits, designed to help you plan with clarity and confidence.

On a PGL centre visit, you’ll be able to see the PGL centre, accommodation and facilities first‑hand, understand activity spaces and meet the centre team. This helps you consider accessibility, sensory environments, on-centre team support and any reasonable adjustments that may be needed.

If visiting in person isn’t possible, we can arrange a pre‑arrival call with the centre team. These conversations are particularly useful for discussing specific SEND/ASN requirements, medical needs, dietary requirements or any concerns around transitions and support. Pre‑arrival calls can be requested once a booking has been placed using the centre visits form here.

Who can take part in a SEND Inclusive Adventure programme?

Our SEND Inclusive Adventure programme is for young people aged 8-16 who would benefit from extra support, flexibility and adaptations. It works especially well for SEND/ ASN school groups, youth clubs, healthcare groups or charities and children with a wide range of additional needs including:

  • Neurodiversities
  • Learning disabilities
  • Physical disabilities
  • Other SEND/ASN requirements

How long is the residential?

Our standard Inclusive Adventure programme lasts 2 nights/3 days – however like everything else in the programme, this can be tailored to your group’s needs – giving plenty of time for fun activities, learning, and reflection without feeling rushed.

Where does it take place?

We run Inclusive Adventure programmes at selected UK centres that are best positioned to offer accessible, safe, supportive adventures. Dates are available from Autumn 2026.

What do participants need to bring?

We’ll send a packing list before the trip – usually outdoor clothing, comfy shoes, personal essentials, and any medication.

How do we book a place?

Just get in touch with our team through the enquiry form or email. We’ll help you check dates and secure your group’s spot.
