Supporting you on centre

When you arrive at your chosen centre you will be met by your PGL Group Leader ‘Groupie’ (or Animateur if you a heading to France)- a member of the centre team dedicated to you and your group for the duration of your stay. They are the main contact between you and your group, the centre management, the instructors and the catering team. They assist with the smooth running of your course, offering the flexibility to support you as you prefer.

Every centre has an experienced and professional General Manager who is in charge of operations and has overall responsibility for the success of your course and the performance of the centre team.

All our instructors are specifically trained for our programmes to ensure the delivery of safe and rewarding sessions. We welcome leaders to observe all activity sessions and participate where possible. For some activities our instructors will require your assistance with non-technical elements, such as supervising children who are waiting their turn and providing encouragement where needed.

Study course representatives (study courses only)
Our qualified study course specialists deliver the very best curriculum-linked programmes tailored to your needs.

Food at PGL

What is the food like?

We know how important it is for kids to stay fuelled and full of energy for their adventures, which is why our meals are both nutritious and delicious! Our centres serve a variety of tasty dishes designed to appeal to young appetites while ensuring they get all the goodness they need.  You can find out more about catering at each PGL centre here

Do you cater for special dietary requirements?

We’re able to cater for a variety of dietary requirements at all of our locations, please visit our Menus and Mealtimes page for further information.

Evening activities

PGL will lead evening activity sessions but to assist with the supervision of the children, we ask you to ensure at least one adult from your group is present during all sessions.

For more detailed information regarding responsibilities whilst on centre, please refer to‘Safety on Centre – supervision and support’.

Details on how PGL colleagues are recruited and trained are in the safeguarding policy.

The PGL Gift Shop

No PGL experience is complete without a Gift Shop visit

We know all our adventurers look forward to exploring PGL’s on-centre Gift Shop as part of their time with us. Nothing quite beats the thrill they’ll get when picking out that perfect gift to bring home, all by themselves!

Bursting with unique goodies of all shapes and sizes, the shelves at our Gift Shop are overflowing with an incredible selection of PGL branded souvenirs, clothing, fun gifts, and tasty treats. From our famous teddy bears (a gift for a sibling perhaps?) to hats, bottles, keyrings, and colourful stationery – there’s something to suit all tastes and budgets. Children in your group will love browsing the shelves with their friends, selecting a special keepsake to remember their big adventure by. A little piece of PGL to take home and cherish forever!

Should children bring money with them?

Children are welcome to bring some pocket money with them for their stay. Our centres provide gift shops where they can purchase branded and non-branded goods, including stationery, T-shirts, caps and confectionery. With souvenirs starting from just 40p, we have plenty of options for all budgets. We suggest £10 – £20 per child in cash or on pre-paid cards.

What payment methods are accepted in the gift shop?

We accept the following payments in our gift shops:

  • Cash
  • VISA
  • Mastercard
  • ApplePay
  • GooglePay
  • gohenry
  • Contactless

Can you limit the amount of confectionery purchased?

We appreciate that not all leaders will want their group to purchase a large amount of confectionery and as such we are able to set limits of purchases for certain items.  Please speak to your group leader, ‘Groupie’ if you wish for us to adapt our approach in the shop to cater for your group’s needs during your visit.

Accommodation

How will accommodation be allocated for my group?

Accommodation will be allocated on the basis of the party composition provided by the Party Leader.

Accommodation options vary according to centre but children will share with others of the same sex.  Adults of the same sex will be placed in twin or triple rooms. Single accommodation is limited and may be subject to a supplementary charge. Single rooms are only provided free of charge when this is necessary due to the composition of the party. Adults outside of the free place ratio may be accommodated in rooms with bunk beds.

Party Leaders travelling with members of their family should be prepared to share family accommodation and should provide their own travel cots if required.

What types of accommodation are available, and how will I know what's booked for me?

We offer a wide range of accommodation across our centres, including campsites, converted farmhouses, purpose-built chalets and mansion houses. The type of accommodation provided will depend on the centre you choose. Some of our accommodation has internal corridors, while other rooms open directly to the outdoors. Where multiple accommodation types are available, we will confirm the specific option allocated to your booking.
If you have any particular accommodation requests, please let your Customer Service Advisor know as early as possible. We will do our best to meet your request, although this cannot be guaranteed.

Are rooms secure and gender-separated?

All guest rooms have approved locks, as well as Fire safety locks, meaning they will unlock from the inside when the handle is pulled down if needed. For tented and cabin accommodation, night security patrols are provided. Sleeping and bathroom areas are separated by gender for mixed groups.

Are rooms private, ventilated, and heated?

Yes, all bedroom and bathroom windows have opaque blinds or curtains. Sleeping areas are well-lit, ventilated with at least one external window, and centres are adequately heated.

What facilities are available for personal items, meals, and recreation?

There is adequate space for storing luggage and clothes, separate catering and dining facilities for full board arrangements, and recreational facilities at each centre.

What provisions are made for Party Leaders and visitors?

Party Leaders have separate sleeping quarters with easy access to their group’s accommodation. Occasionally, approved overnight visitors (e.g., PGL team or contractors) may stay in adjacent rooms, and you will be informed in advance. All visitors will have an approved enhanced DBS check.

What bathroom and hygiene facilities are provided?

We will always meet our minimum standards by providing at least one washbasin with hot and cold water and a mirror for every 10 guests, one shower or bath for every 15 guests, and one WC for every 10 guests, all located close to sleeping areas. Many of our centres are fully en-suiteStorage for valuables is also available.
