Who is responsible for supervising children during various parts of the day?

Your responsibility (with our support):

  • Breaks & Free Time
  • Meal Times
  • Bedtime
  • Night Time

PGL’s responsibility (with your support):

  • Daytime Adventure Activities
  • Evening Entertainment/Activities

What support will the PGL centre staff provide during our stay?

You’ll meet your Group Leader, or ‘Groupie’ when you arrive. They’ll be your guide and main point of contact, ensuring the smooth running of your trip and providing your group with all-round support. 

  • Meet you on arrival and organise a welcome talk and tour of the centre  
  • Help you settle your group into their accommodation  
  • Entertain your group from when you arrive until we hand back over to you after evening activities, ready for bed 
  • Meet and accompany your group to all mealtimes (But they’ll take a short break whilst you are eating)  

What responsibilities do Party Leaders and accompanying adults have?

As Party Leader, you have a role to play too. We kindly ask you to: 

 

  • Make sure an adult from your group is always contactable on centre 
  • Supporting with the behaviour management of your group, click here to see our Code of Conduct 
  • Supervise your group overnight and between activities 
  • Be responsible for your group’s medication 
  • Administer basic first aid treatment (with the support of trained PGL colleagues and first aid supplies) 
  • Please bring all necessary personal medication and a small supply of general over the counter medicines (e.g. pain relief, antihistamines, cold/flu remedies) as our centres are unable to provide this for you onsite.  
  • Make the decision if any guests need further medical attention, and keeping parents/guardians informed 
  • Manage dietary requirements in the dining room 
  • Evacuate your group in the case of a fire alarm (Covered in your welcome tour) 

 To ensure the health and wellbeing of all our guests and colleagues, we ask that children who are unwell – particularly with symptoms such as sickness or diarrhoea – are not brought to the centre. Cancellation due to illness is covered by our insurance policy.

PGL ensures a clear handover of responsibility between Party Leaders and our colleagues at the correct points of the day.

DBS

DBS Policy

PGL assures all visitors a warm, friendly and professional welcome, whatever the purpose of their visit. PGL also has a legal duty of care for the health, safety, security and well-being of all guests’ colleagues and visitors. This includes ensuring they are appropriately supervised and identifiable. 

PGL therefore requires that all visitors (without exception) comply with our policies and procedures when visiting our centres. 

What are PGL’s DBS Criminal Records Check requirements?

We require all 18+ adults to have a current criminal record check (Enhanced DBS, PVG check or Bulletin no.3), this includes employees of the school or group and any other adults such as parent volunteers or youth group leaders. Party leaders are responsible for ensuring these checks are in place and to confirm this to us in writing prior to arrival.

All Party Leaders will be asked to confirm that all adults meet this criteria prior to arrival on centre.  

Sign in and Visitor Badge system

All adult visitors to PGL centres are signed in on arrival at centre and a provide with a lanyard which must be worn at all times.  To help you identify all person aged 16 and over on our PGL centres please see the table below:

Are PGL colleagues criminal record checked?

PGL are responsible for ensuing all PGL colleagues have the required criminal record check for the centre which they work and have completed PGL Safeguarding training.  

PGL Colleague are all provided with a PGL Beyond Lanyard with badge displaying employee name and ID number in green.
